Burning Mouth Syndrome

A very complex condition which is often hard to find support.

Burning mouth syndrome (BMS) is a condition that causes a persistent burning sensation in the mouth, lips, tongue, or throat. The exact cause of BMS is not well understood, but it is thought to be related to changes in nerve function, hormone imbalances, or problems with the immune system. BMS is more common in women, particularly those who are postmenopausal, and it can affect people of any age.

The main symptom of BMS is a burning sensation in the mouth that may be constant or intermittent. Other symptoms may include dry mouth, altered taste, and a sensation of having a foreign body in the mouth. BMS can also cause pain when eating or speaking, and it may cause difficulty sleeping due to discomfort.

I have a special focus in Burning Mouth Syndrome and have worked with women to help them identify the causes (because often it’s not just one) and to reduce their triggers while offering relief.

The pain and discomfort can often leave you feeling overwhelmed and finding the right place to start to get on top of it is very daunting.

It’s vital to look at the body as a whole and gain a complete understanding about ones health as what triggers one persons BMS may not trigger the next.

I am up to date with all the scientific research and treatments available for burning mouth syndrome.

Rosie had great relief after we worked together:

“A big thank you for helping me deal with my various issues.

After 2 years of ongoing unrelenting burning mouth symptoms and seeing a number of doctors you have been able to provide me not only with temporary pain relief but also a plan of attack for the future.

Your professionalism and patience in listening to my multiple issues was reassuring and comforting’
